2016 Nissan Rogue in Hopkinsville

The 2016 Nissan Rogue comes in S, SV and SL trim levels. 2016 is the second model year for the current generation of the Nissan Rogue. To keep things fresh, the crossover, which is already a standout in the compact crossover segment thanks to its available third-row seating, gets substantially more tech features.

The S is the entry vehicle into the lineup. Bluetooth connectivity, side-curtain airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system and a rearview camera are just a few of its more notable features. A new Appearance Package is available this model year.

The mid-level SV builds on the S with such items as alloy wheels, a power driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control and NissanConnect. The latter is the automaker's advance infotainment system. It comes with such features as satellite radio and the ability to use smartphone apps like Pandora streaming radio.

Two-row seating is standard with the above mention third row available on S and SV models.

The SL is the top trim level. The equipment list includes a premium Bose audio system, navigation, a power tailgate, Nissan's famed 360 degree surround-view camera, heated front seats, leather upholstery and virtually everything from the lower trims. Siri Eyes-Free and a forward emergency braking are new for 2016.

Buyers will find the Rogue to be quite customizable. Major options include a panoramic sunroof, heated cloth seats and blind spot detection. Note all-wheel drive is optional on all three trims.

The 2016 Nissan Rogue's sole means of propulsion is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder which carries over from the outgoing model. It produces 170 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque which are channeled to the front-wheels via a continuously-variable transmission. Fuel economy per the EPA is an estimated 26 miles per hour in city driving, 33 mpg cruising along the highway and 28 mpg combined.* AWD models see a slight dip in those figures: 25 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 28 mpg combined.

"On the road, the Rogue quickly impresses," summarizes Autotrader. "While noise from the continuously variable transmission and the road can be a little loud, such complaints are forgotten when you consider the Rogue's smooth ride, easy maneuverability and good visibility. While those traits won't win the Rogue any awards for excitement, they're among the most important when you're searching for a compact SUV."

The Nissan Rogue's has a maximum tow rating of 1,000 lbs.
